On October 29, 2024, we hosted in Karditsa, Greece, the Multiplier Event for the Erasmus+ project Speak It Up! at the Kierion Hotel. Over 32 educators, youth workers, and board game enthusiasts gathered to explore the project's achievements in advancing youth public speaking skills and promoting active civic engagement.
Celebrating Innovation and Collaboration
The event began with an enthusiastic welcome from the project team, including representatives from Dracon Rules Design Studio. The introduction highlighted the project's inspiring journey, emphasizing its mission to empower youth through innovative educational tools. Participants were introduced to the project's overarching goals: improving communication skills, promoting active citizenship, and making learning an interactive and enjoyable experience.
Showcasing Speechable and Digital Tools
One of the event's key moments was the presentation of Speechable, the board game developed during the project. Designed to turn public speaking practice into an engaging activity, Speechable incorporates skills such as persuasion, critical thinking, and confidence-building into its gameplay. Attendees witnessed a live demonstration, which illustrated how the game could seamlessly integrate into classrooms and youth workshops.
Complementing the board game, the digital self-assessment app was also showcased. This tool allows users to track progress, set goals, and refine their public speaking skills, providing an adaptable and innovative resource for educators and learners alike.
Inspiring Testimonials and Interactive Discussions
Interactive sessions allowed participants to engage deeply with the project outcomes. Testimonials from youth and educators who participated in pilot testing highlighted how Speechable and the app had a transformative impact on their communication skills and confidence. A lively Q&A session followed, fostering valuable discussions on adapting the tools to various educational contexts and emphasizing their relevance for diverse communities.
Building Networks and Looking Ahead
The event was not just a platform for dissemination but also an opportunity to foster connections among educators, youth workers, and community leaders. Participants left with a wealth of knowledge, practical tools, and ideas for utilizing Speechable and the app in their own educational initiatives. Discussions during the event provided actionable feedback, ensuring the sustainability and continued relevance of the project’s outputs.
The Multiplier Event was a celebration of what collaboration and creativity can achieve, setting the stage for the long-term integration of Speak It Up! tools in educational settings across Europe.
