Exploring Sustainability Through Education: Competences4ESD Online Multiplier Event
On July 31, 2024, the Competences4ESD team hosted an impactful online Multiplier Event, bringing together educators, trainers, and stakeholders from across the globe. This event was a key milestone in advancing the goals of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and promoting the 4th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) – Quality Education for All.
On July 4, 2024, the Erasmus+ project Competences4ESD took a significant step forward with a hands-on testing event hosted at Dimokriteio University of Thrace in Komotini. This interactive gathering brought together over 20 enthusiastic pre- and in-service teachers, offering them an opportunity to explore the project's innovative educational tools.
Bridging Education and Sustainability
The event focused on providing participants with a comprehensive understanding of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) through engaging activities and cutting-edge tools. Educators explored the project's deliverables using mobile devices, tablets, and laptops, seamlessly blending technology with education to foster learning.
A Highlight: The Podium 4ESD Educational Game
A centerpiece of the event was the introduction of the Podium 4ESD educational role-play game, which participants tested in both physical and online formats. Designed to facilitate the understanding of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the game helps educators integrate sustainability concepts into their classrooms. Feedback from attendees highlighted the game's ability to combine fun with meaningful learning, fostering critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
The Importance of ESD Key Competences
This event underscored the critical role of educators in achieving the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. By equipping teachers with the necessary competences, Competences4ESD empowers them to inspire future generations and drive sustainable change within their communities.
